Lily Pond

A view of Claude Monet’s lily pond in his garden in Giveryny, France.  This famous pond is a central theme to Monet’s series of lily pond paintings from a century ago and on exhibit at the Musee de l’Orangerie in Paris. There is a wonderful novel about Monet’s painting of this series of painting called Mad Enchantment.

This little landscape painting of the lily pond is moody and as with the other paintings in this botanical series I used a natural linen canvas for the surface of the art piece. The Natural color canvas gave the ink colors a darker, more intense hue on the canvas; and real nostalgic feel to the landscape.  Hope you enjoy this interpretation of Monet’s lily pond.
